Jennifer L.M. Shotwell CPNP

Jennifer Shotwell grew up in Orange County, California. She graduated with honors from University California of Los Angeles with both a Masters and Bachelors' in Nursing. As a teen, she helped care for families who had children with cancer, and partnered in founding an oncology camp. As an RN, she focused in Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric ICU, which led to her specialty as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. As an Advanced Practice Nurse, she delivers health care to the sick and chronically ill child and has a strong interest in addressing a child's developmental and behavioral concerns.

In 1994 Jennifer moved to Oahu and worked at Kapiolani Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Oncology Unit and also at Kaiser Permanente, as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. While on Oahu, she enjoyed snorkeling, scuba diving and flying to the outer islands in a twin engine plane, with her future husband, Jon Shotwell. In 1995 Jennifer moved to the beautiful small town of Kamuela, where she practiced pediatrics in Kamuela, Kona and Hilo. The Big Island's Aloha, along with her husband's roots from Hilo, sealed her desire to stay and make Hawaii her new home.

Jennifer works part time at our clinic, and is also dedicated to homeschooling her three girls while her husband travels as a pilot. To break up the rhythm of teaching and working, Jennifer enjoys kayaking and camping with her family. To refresh and energize herself, she enjoys early morning outdoor exercise, reading a good book, going to church, and quiet moments at the beach.
